New releases from Bernhard Living week ending: 20.09.2014

[Composition 00048]
https://bernhardliving.bandcamp.com/album/composition-00048
[Composition 00048 is in five parts, and the overall texture is sparse. There are two or three thirty-two bar sound elements in each section, and these fade in and out of each other with by periods of silence separating each ‘event’. New ideas for compositions come out of a continuous on-going process of repetition, variation, mutation and innovation.]

[Composition 00049]

[Composition 00049 is in ten parts, with the parts containing overlapping machine-like drones interspersed with moments of silence, creating slowly evolving textures. There are many low frequency sounds within the composition, and when sounded together they often create unpredictable pulse beats and clicks. The different parts of the composition have not been ‘balanced’ to be at the same dynamic level, and so some sounds are much quieter than others. There’s a graduation between medium levels sounds (mixed at the standard 0dB), quieter sounds, and silence. The last groups of sounds are filled with harmonics.]

[Composition 00050]
https://bernhardliving.bandcamp.com/album/composition-00050
[Composition 00050 is in two parts, with a base element that repeats for both sections. This base element consists of a slowly pulsing two-bar sound followed by two bars of reverberant silence. In part two, a 768-bar drone has been added to the sonic texture. The overall feeling of the composition is of a meditative factory space in which the all the machines have been shut down, yet the sounds continue as if in one’s imagination.]

[Composition 00051]
https://bernhardliving.bandcamp.com/album/composition-00051
[Composition 00051 is in three parts, with three different sounds overlapping each other. The first sound has a dub-step-like quality to it, and is later accompanied in part two by a 128-bar drone. This drone is joined, in turn, by another in part three. Part one is a mix of sound and silence, and parts two and three are denser in texture. This composition offers a complete break from the echoes of reality and arrives at the conditions of compositional architectonics and non-objective abstraction.]
