'Noiseforest' (homage to David Tudor)

Noise Forest uses amplification of small sounds through contact mics,
live processing, electronics, and live performance on found
objects. Percussionist Brendan Dougherty abandons the standard
drumkit for a collection of junk and amplified objects which are
processed / mixes / manipulated digitally (by Kim Cascone - using MAX/
MSP) and electronically (by Guido Henneböhl (using cracked + homemade
electronis / primitive machines). Inspired by David Tudor's
Rainforest installation.

+ Record release of Smoke on Devil's Mountain by KGB trio on Scrapple
Records (scrapplerecords.com). limited edition CD release (100
copies) + online distribution.

On a wet, rainy day in November the trio treks into the woods of
Teufelsberg, Berlin, and breaks into the abandoned station in order
to take some field recordings. Traversing the dank, dark interior of
the complex they make their way all the way to the large set of domes
atop the buildings. The wind whipping at the torn skins of the
geodesic domes. It begins to rain. The trio gets to work, recording
the wind and rain through the domes as well as using the domes
acoustic properties to process sounds made with hand held cracked
electronics. Later in the KGB studio the trio work at processing and
layering the dome recordings with live improvisations inspired by the
dome recordings. The result it a disjointed temporal documentation of
the morphogentic field recordings of a Cold War spy station.
