Oscillations 2008
A Festival of Electroacoustic Music


Halifax, Nova Scotia
February 2-3, 2008

Interactive instrumental/electronic performance, 
acousmatic music, mixed-media performance, and 
electronica, by artists from Canada, the UK, and 
USA.

Oscillations 2008 is five events:
- three concerts highlighting unique areas of electroacoustic practice.
- two workshops on computers in music, for 
participants or observers with a range of 
knowledge and experience.

Oscillations 2008 is a co-production of The 
Oscillations Music Society & suddenlyLISTEN.

Saturday February 2. Concert 1: InterACT
Saint Mary's University Art Gallery, 8 pm.

InterACT blends acoustic instruments and 
electronic technology in a performance rooted in 
careful listening and interactive improvisation.


Saturday February 2. Concert 2: Laptop Cabaret
Eyelevel Gallery (time to be confirmed - following InterACT).

A late-night, curated performance by Halifax-area 
laptop performers, DJs, Hip Hop artists, and 
other guests.



Sunday February 3. Workshop 1: Computers & music for beginners
Presenter: Andrew Duke. Eyelevel Gallery, 12-2 pm.

This workshop will help both amateurs and 
professionals discover new ways to create and 
process music on their own laptops.


Sunday February 3. Workshop 2: An Introduction to SuperCollider
Presenter: Dr Scott Wilson. Saint Mary's University Art Gallery, 4-6 pm.

Oscillations guest artist Scott Wilson will 
present a workshop on SuperCollider -- a powerful 
open source (Mac, Linux, Windows) object-oriented 
environment and programming language for real 
time audio synthesis and algorithmic composition.


Sunday February 3. Concert 3: The UK Connection
Saint Mary's University Art Gallery, 8 pm.

The UK Connection is an immersive, multi-speaker 
concert of acousmatic electroacoustic music; live 
performance and signal processing; and mixed 
media work.
