framework - phonography/field recording; contextual and decontextualized sound activity
presented by patrick mcginley

a regular edition of framework this week, slowly catching up on the big backlog of material we have waiting for airplay. we took an extended listen to a truly beautiful self-released double cd by swiss phonographer leny puksar - leny sent us this collection of icy sounds entitled winter music, all untreated recordings of frozen sounds, melting and cracking ice, chilled winds, it's as though you can hear the temperature of the air. really excellent sounds, check them out!

we also heard several selections from the new collaboration between marc behrens and paulo raposo, constructed from sounds recorded in portugal on lisbon's commuter ferries. really nice work here, a satisfying balance between heavy treatments and natural resonances.

and a few single tracks this week - the first sound experiment by the estonian artist fantomas, a stunning untreated recording of a radio antenna by stephen cornford, a rainstorm with some fortuitous found objects by dallas simpson, and an intro recorded for us this week by k.m. krebs.

again, we are always looking for material for the show, whether raw field recordings, field recording based composition or introduction submissions. send material, released or not, on any format, to the address below. if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
