slowly catching up on the big backlog of material we have waiting for
airplay. we took an extended listen to a truly beautiful self-released
double cd by swiss phonographer <STRONG>leny puksar</STRONG> - leny sent us this
collection of icy sounds entitled <EM><STRONG>winter music</STRONG></EM>, all
untreated recordings of frozen sounds, melting and cracking ice, chilled winds,
it's as though you can hear the temperature of the air. really excellent
sounds, check them out!</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>we also heard several selections from the new
collaboration between <STRONG>marc behrens</STRONG> and <STRONG>paulo
raposo</STRONG>, constructed from sounds recorded in portugal on lisbon's
commuter ferries. really nice work here, a satisfying balance between
heavy treatments and natural resonances. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>and a few single tracks this week - the first sound
experiment by the estonian artist <STRONG>fantomas</STRONG>, a
stunning untreated recording of a radio antenna by <STRONG>stephen
cornford</STRONG>, a rainstorm with some fortuitous found objects by
<STRONG>dallas simpson</STRONG>, and an intro recorded for us this week by
<STRONG>k.m. krebs</STRONG>.</FONT></DIV>
