framework - phonography/field recording; contextual and decontextualized sound activity
presented by patrick mcginley

this week's edition of framework:afield was produced in lisbon, portugal by paulo raposo. in his own words:

This edition is based on the two latest Pushing the Medium events, which took place in the remote locations of Nodar (Portugal, September), and Tópolo (Italy, October). Both events gathered a group of sound artists and others presented with the unique challenge of developing site-specific projects within the 10 day duration. The isolated topography and habitat served as a frame for working in territories outside the view of an increasingly urbanized Europe dominated by centralized cultural activity. The focus centered on the context and location of both places and their geographical circumstances, encouraging collaborative work and open dialogue between the artists, as well as between the artists and the community. I co-produced the event in Portugal while Antonio della Marina produced the Italian event. Mr. John Grzinich produced the first in Estonia back in 2004.

The result is intended to be an autonomous radio show, and not a documentary of the "PTM" events.

It features collective sound materials produced during the events by the following artists:
Yannick Dauby, Murmer, John Grzinich, Noid, Olivier Feraud, Hitoshi Kojo, Alessandro Fogar, Maksims Shentelevs and Paulo Raposo.
