#445: 2013.12.01
listen to this edition here:
http://www.frameworkradio.net/2013/12/445-2013-12-01/

this edition of framework:afield has been produced in germany by regular
contributor d. l. lutz. his notes:

Earscape „Broadcast“

Just imagine yourself being a seaman on a large containership, in the
middle of nowhere on the Pacific Ocean at night. The sky is brightly lit
with stars; you are tired and lonely, and you cannot sleep. So you move
over to your world receiver radio and switch through the channels,
hoping to find signs of life and human activities. You detect traces
everywhere, but not all of them are identifiable or understandable. Are
messages or noises dominant? What language is spoken? What topic is
concerned? Well, you think, in any case this is a little bit of solace...

This earscape uses parts of experimental compositions that are stitching
together findings of all kinds; it is a free flow of snippets from
Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake to church services. And in the middle of things
you might hear Pauline Oliveros talk about modes of listening...

D. L. Lutz, born 1969 in Germany, is a practicing architect, writer and
sound artist living in Berlin for over twenty years. His interests lie
in science, ecology and all things related to music. He has produced a
series of soundscapes on various topics, sound for films and a couple of
symphonic readings.

again, we are always looking for new material, whether raw field
recordings, field recording based composition, or introduction
submissions. we are also now accepting proposals for full editions of
our guest curated framework:afield series. send proposals or material,
released or not, on any format, to the address at the bottom of this
mail. if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
