All this discussion about antlers wifi made me curious to have a look

however I’m not going to ruin my well working computer/firefox setup by
installing the quicktime plugin!
Why do people still use qt? I’m sure there’s more windows users out
there who found that installing qt completely fucks their system

i find that looking at people's use of the internet compelling in a way
that doesn't happen after spending a few hours
in FB or MS. the project for free mentality is the beauty of the network
and has been a way for years that i've met
people via screen. didn't mean to start a vs. situation - just that it's
a relief to see projects where people are spending
time using this medium slightly outside where most of where i see the
perifferial attention is being focused today.

there was a point where mailing lists where/are social networks, though
they included an engaged exchange of work and ideas.
these networks created a creative space for me and now my challenge in
FB is to perfect the haiku. not a bad thing..
though not an activity i spend much time with, i guess i prefer the
context and environment basho and issa where presenting.

as the evolution happens, keep up the great works!

I don't think the issue is so much with social networking sites as it is

with people expanding their horizons and getting their minds outside
"the box" more often. Being creative and enjoying other people's
creative endeavors are only a couple ways of doing that.
Like anything else, social networking sites or digital animation art
only
have as much value as you want to give them.
I personally don't see either being any less valuable than the other.

I think it means...

If there wasn't FB there would be more works like this and more people
doing creative things rather than 'making friends' (wasting time) on
FB...
