Using Facebook requires a belief in the platform, the organisation, their ultimate longevity and their definition of the platform as a means of communication (incorporating how that may change at some future point). Moving to Facebook I think will lose some people here, perhaps pick others but will they engage in the same way?</div><div><br></div><div>I'm not keen for a switch to Facebook even though I too only lurk on the list but I do understand why it may be preferable to others. However why not use both list and Facebook? I've run a research related weblog for quite a few years now and I use plugins for the weblog that push everything to a Facebook and Twitter page. Perhaps what's needed is migration to a better mailing list that might have to capability to do something like this; it would please everybody and as social media sites come and go can adapt.<br><br><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">regards<br>Garrett<br>_________________<br><a></a><a href="mailto:Garrett@asquare.org" x-apple-data-detectors="true" x-apple-data-detectors-type="link" x-apple-data-detectors-result="3">Garrett@asquare.org</a><br><a href="http://www.asquare.org/" target="_blank">http://www.asquare.org/</a><br><a href="http://www.asquare.org/networkresearch/" target="_blank">http://www.asquare.org/networkresearch/</a></span></div><div><br>On 27 Jan 2014, at 04:58, <a href="mailto:microsound-announce-request@or8.net">microsound-announce-request@or8.net</a> wrote:<br><br></div><blockquote type="cite"><blockquote type="cite"><span>On Mon, Jan 20, 2014 at 1:15 PM, Kim Cascone <<a href="mailto:kim@anechoicmedia.com">kim@anechoicmedia.com</a>> wrote:</span><br><span></span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span>Dear .microsounders,</span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span></span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span>Judging from the number of posts it seems like this mode of communication,</span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span>i.e. the email list, has become antiquated.</span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span></span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span>If you are on Facebook I think it might be a good idea to migrate to the</span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span>.microsound group there since you can post media directly to the page --</span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span>which makes sense since we are a media-oriented community.</span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span></span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span><a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/microsound/">https://www.facebook.com/groups/microsound/</a></span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span></span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span>anyway, hope everyone is doing well in this new year</span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span></span><br></blockquote><blockquote type="cite"><span>ciao!</span></blockquote></blockquote></div></body></html>
