We have our first lecture this Wednesday, October 17th, featuring 2012 CEC Jeu de Temps / Times Play finalist Adam Basanta on "Composing semantics, music, and noise: Approaches to aural richness in Three Myths of Liberalism". Audio examples during Adam's lecture will be presented in Octophonic. </font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="'Times New Roman'" size="4"><br></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="'Times New Roman'" size="4">Adam Basanta (b. 1985) is a multiple award-winning composer and media artist, whose work traverses electroacoustic, acoustic and mixed composition, audiovisual installations, interactive laptop performance, and innovative light design. His work often explores various modes of listening, cross-modal perception, the re-animation of quotidian objects, and the articulation of site and space.<div><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">His music has been described as “frantic, noisy and gutsy” (Words and Music), “an electrochemistry of the new and old” (Boston Musical Intelligencer), while “the richness and dynamism of colour in his pieces stirs questions” (Musicworks).<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">His concert works have been presented throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia and the UK, and have been awarded national and international prizes.
