<pre>composing the Composer<br>workshop with Zbigniew Karkowski<br> <br>Friday 18th May<br>midday - 19:00<br>Ł40-Ł30 concs.<br>nnnnn, Unit 73a, Regent Studios, 8 Andrew's Road, London, E8 4QN<br> <br>FULL INFORMATION AND BOOKING here ><br><a href="http://nnnnn.org.uk/doku.php?id=composing_the_composer" target="_blank">http://nnnnn.org.uk/doku.php?id=composing_the_composer</a><br> <br>Zbigniew Karkowski is one of the most significant artists working in the<br>field of experimental and contemporary music.<br><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zbigniew_Karkowski" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zbigniew_Karkowski</a><br> <br>composing the Composer is aimed towards sound artists, musicians or<br>composers who are interested in his approach to composition and live<br>performance on both the technical and formal level. This workshop gives<br>the participants an opportunity to gain insight into the working methods<br>of on one of the most challenging composers / performers of electronic<br>music today.<br> <br>Karkowski will teach the participants about his aesthetic and conceptual<br>approaches towards composition through an in depth analysis of some of his<br>own pieces as well as exploring the compositional concepts that are<br>inherent to the design of his Max and Super Collider patches which have<br>been developed in collaboration with people such as Alberto De Campo,<br>Peter Castine, and Aaron McLeran. Along these lines aesthetic approaches<br>towards the use of sound textures, timbres and the technical aspects of<br>sound production will also be covered.<br> <br>To finish the workshop there will be a short panel discussion about noise<br>and composition with Karkowski, Ryan Jordan, J.-P. Caron, Inigo Wilkins,<br>and Richard Whitelaw.<br> <br>The outcome of the workshop will result in an evening concert featuring<br>all the participants from the workshop performing alongside Karkowski.</pre>                                       </div></body>
