<p class="style2">Since 2002 computermusician Eva Pöpplein and electric bassist Janko Hanushevsky have been working together as a duo, performing free improvised music and composing music for radio, film and theater. In their ars acustica-works the two are seeking new ways of working musically with field-recordings. The fusion of mechanically prepared and unprepared bassguitar with live-electronics and field-recordings form the duo´s characteristic sound.</p>

Commissioned works include compositions a.o. for German nationwide public radio Deutschlandradio Kultur, Deutschlandfunk, ZDF/arte, Münchner Volkstheater, Hebbel am Ufer Theater Berlin, Staatstheater Kassel and Akademie Musiktheater heute. They were awarded the Prix Marulić 2011/Documentary Catgory for their piece „Milomaki – Oblivion and Disappearance“ (Deutschlandfunk 2011) that is based on 100 year old field-recordings on historic wax-cylinders.</p>

<p class="style2">The duo was born in summer 2009 in Istanbul. Eren uses only prerecorded alto saxophone samples, and Dario plays with/on/under it. The dj plays rhythmically with this switch possibility: scratch and re-composition, superimposing voices. After some concerts the "sound bank" evolved: they went back to the studio and recorded more material: long sounds made for scratching, wind sections, static soundscapes and multi-layer compositions.<br />

JORGE SANCHEZ-CHIONG</strong> (VE) <br />

The German speaking critic praised the work of Jorge Sánchez-Chiong, as accoustically powerful, as an extremely virtuousic play of colours, intense, compact, hyper-fast, and singular master pieces. The composer of Cuban and Chinese origin lives as a freelance artist/musician in Vienna, where he was commissioned to write a great number of works for the most important New Music ensembles. His extremely rhythmical compositions seek to capture the liveliness and spontaneity of an improvisation. Going beyond the realms of concert music, Jorge Sánchez-Chiong breaks down boundaries by co-operating with artists from new movements including from the experimental theatre and electronic music scene, dancers, vocalists, DJs, as well as video and improvisation artists. <br />
