I thought the SoMCW detached his flesh from his body - something like chop the finger off and wire it/make it alive once its no longer attached to you. Just kidding, but that'd be a step forward and more of an equivalent of the animal parts performance? Stelarc's done some pretty intense experimentation onto his own body but any performance out there with detached body parts? <br>

you could probably find some youtubes of Stelarc's performances -- I had a friend who volunteered for a live performance with him -- he wired her up to a 'driver' box that he had made, and by sending jolts of electricity through her muscles, had her 'dancing' -- afterwards she was in such pain for days that she could barely move! When you send a current into the muscles, it causes a 100% strength contraction of the muscle (where normally you use less than 50% of the total muscle strength even with maximum exertion)... It will actually internally shred the muscle tissues!<br>
