we've just finished up the <b>tuned city</b> festival
here in tallinn, an amazing week with amazing weather,
amazing people, and amazing sounds. highlights included
<b>ici-meme</b>'s <i><b>city sounds concerts</b></i>
(personal blind walks through tallinn), <b>thomas
ankersmit</b>'s site specific saxophone performances
is some of tallinn's most interesting acoustic spaces,
and of course <b>charlemagne palestine</b>'s organ
performance in niguliste church. we invited <b>felicity
ford</b>, a regular <i><b>framework </b></i>contributor,
to come and lead the <i><b>framework radio:
documentation and production</b></i> workshop, which
produced daily 'reports' of the previous days activities
for diffusion at our conference series, and will now
work towards producing one (or maybe more) editions of <i><b>framework:afield</b></i>
for broadcast in the fall. a great big thank you to all
the artists, speakers, and volunteers who came out and
made this festival happen. tallinn has been, and
remains, a very resonant place.<br>

a largely untreated collection of sounds this week,
including <b>jesse paul miller'</b>s experiments with
radios around southeast asia, which he describes thusly:
"hand held portable shortwave radio recorded may-october
2008 on location in java/ bali/lombok (indonesia),
myanmar, thailand, and japan. direct transmissions were
played live in the environment with the cheap little
device. also, direct recordings of bizarre radio
transmissions picked up with the radio. assembled into a
single composition, for your boom-box." this joined <b>thomas
tilly</b>'s exquisite collection of hydrophone
recordings from france, <b>thomas park</b>'s collage of
gutter and rain sounds from saint louis, <b>guillaume
beauron</b>'s collection of field recordings from his
travels, and <b>john grzinich</b>'s textural
compositions.<br>
