the last regular edition of this fine year of 2008 - we have one more
show this year, our last <b><i>framework:afield</i></b>, coming next
week, produced by <b>ruben garcia</b> and <b>slavek kwi</b> (who's
project <b>artificial memory trace</b>, coincidentally, is also
featured in this edition) and featuring the <b>mamori sound project</b>,
an artist residency in the amazonian rain forest organised each year by
<b>francisco lopez</b>. a fine way to end the year. meanwhile this
week we explored the site specific recordings of <b>murmur</b>; please
note the pair of u's therein! this, for once, is not an exercise in
self-promotion, this is in fact another murmur altogether, a group in
the u.s. that records site-specific instrumental improvisations, for
this album inside a fermentation tank in an old distillery. these went
well with another one of <b>dan warburton</b>'s sound walks, the
aforementioned artificial memory trace, and a few tracks from maine's
enthralling <b>crank sturgeon</b> - i played a gig with matt earlier
this year in paris and his performance was exceptional, and to my great
pleasure there are a few tracks on the cdr he gave me that i could get
away with playing on a field-recording radio show.<br>
