presents an in-depth investigation into the art of hearing: recorded sound,
found sound, manipulated sound, sound assemblage, field recordings,
sound-producing devices, sound-based installation, interactive pieces,
performance, and video the gallery will be transformed into an environment where
our experience of sound will be our most heightened sense.<BR><BR>There will be
a public reception Friday, September 15, from 6-9 p.m., featuring food provided
by Flats Grille and music by East Lansing ambient noise trio The Golden Four
Ratio and Lansing-based freeform ensemble Rattling Wall Collective. The
reception is FREE and open to the public. Sonic Landscapes will continue through
Sunday, October 15.<BR><BR>Artists included in the show include Vancouver
BC-based experimental bassist Wendy Atkinson, Lansing-based multimedia artists
Trevor Benoit and iAMiBE (Nathan Sieggreen), Richmond VA-based information
designer Benjamin Gaydos, Grand Rapids-based mixed media artist Brad Harris,
British Columbia-based post-punk duo and Kill Rock Stars recording artists Mecca
Normal (Jean Smith and David Lester), Detroit-based electronic musician Brooks
Mosher, Portland OR-based multimedia film artist Hart Ryan Noecker, New
York-based guitarist Lee Ranaldo (of the band Sonic Youth), Lansing-based
sculptor Tom Sheerin, Ann Arbor-based sound artist Chuck Sipperley,
Southfield-based musician Will Soderberg, and Lansing-based experimental noise
artist Alex 13.<BR><BR>(SCENE) Metrospace is located at 303 Abbott Road, at the
Albert Street intersection and is open Wednesday through Friday from 1-4 p.m.,
as well as Fridays from 6-9 p.m., Saturdays from 6-9 p.m., and Sundays from 1-4
