after another great traveling intro, we started this week's program
with a track from one of my favorite discoveries from this summer's
travels - mountains, who i was lucky enough to see perform in brooklyn,
combine acoustic guitar and other simple string and drone instruments,
in a well-blended duet with series of mostly unmanipulated field
recordings. this live track is a long slowly developing piece, in
which the field recordings initially take the forefront, only to be
joined later by a warm, melancholy, repetitive guitar...<br>
<br>
this was followed by framework's first ever submission from turkey, by
erdem helvacioglu, who, from the looks of his website, unbeknownst to
us (or me, anyway), has been working away for quite some time. from
the wilds of an istanbul bazaar we came back up north with some layered
droney works from england's phill harding and monos, and continued on
that trajectory to find sweden's rsundin, before crashing back down to
the heat of a sydney afternoon in the shadow of a fig tree with
anthonym.<br>

one announcement to make this week - starting in october, resonancefm's
field recording slot (that is, peter cusack's vermillion sounds on the
first friday of each month, and framework for the rest of them) will be
changing it's hours, just slightly, to the new times of 8-9pm - just a
half an hour earlier. so the first show to be affected will be
vermillion sounds on the 7th, and the first edition of framework with
our new hours will be on the 14th. so please make a note of it, we
wouldn't want you missing half a show - although, as always, you'll
still have a chance to catch the show again in it's wednesday morning
repeat slot, which will remain the same.<br>
