this edition of *framework:afield* has been produced in the united
states by *scott sherk*, and features audio from his current
installation at the *katonah museum of art *in katonah, new york as part
of the /*mapping memory*/ exhibition. further info about the piece from
scott's website:

"Sculptor and sound artist Scott Sherk will be creating a work
entitled “Katonah Sound Project” for the exhibition Mapping Memory.
This work will be a three dimensional realization of a sound map of
the Katonah Museum area. Imagining the museum as a center, Sherk
has developed a map moving outward along the north, east, south and
west axis of the building. Radiating in precise quarter mile
increments along 50 degrees, 140 degrees, 230 degrees, and 320
degrees (the axis of the building) he has identified points in which
he intends to make field recordings of the ambient sounds.
Additional points have also been identified for up to 18.5 miles
from the museum along the four axis directions. Field recordings
were made at each point which included municipal garbage sites,
private beach clubs, state parks, and private estates.

Recordings were edited into a four-channel work that will be
installed in the Project Gallery of the Katonah Museum of Art. The
work will highlight the sounds of the space that surrounds the
museum and contributes to the aural ambience and soundscape of the
area. The work will be presented continuously on custom built
speakers. The sounds of traffic, wildlife, and the drones of
contemporary life when re-assembled create a mysterious and
    surprising space.

The exhibition opens on October 3, 2010 and continues until January
9, 2011 at the Katonah Museum of Art in Katonah, New York."
