Message-ID: *Recycling Records presents: The Best Of Polish Smooth Jazz ...Ever!* * *[en] * *Our fifth release is now available. "The Best Of Polish Smooth Jazz ...Ever!" is 20 top polish hits performed by 20 artists. They prefer to stay anonymous to keep you focused on these great tracks that are presented in modern versions to reveal their hidden beauty. They sometimes differ a lot from original versions what for many conservative listeners may come as a shock but it's still an essential collection for every music lover. You can get it as a CD in nice digipack or just download MP3 files - but would you miss that awesome extra track video clip included as bonus on CD? You choose. There hasn't been much lately in electronic music that has really made me stand at attention until this release peaked my interest in a huge way. The entire album plays on a downbeat mood. I feel like much more time and effort was spent on artistic value within the album rather than trying to make an album that people want to dance to. Thus, a very intelligent album was created in *"The Best of Polish Smooth Jazz ...Ever!"* I found myself becoming extremely relaxed while listening to the tracks and didn't feel overwhelmed with a multitude of sampling complexity. Though I'm sure much of what they've done is complex, it never feels like you need to rack your brain for answers. Most of the songs start off vamping on a single note or interval that resonates throughout the entire song while subtle melodies play in the background accompanied by clever drum fills. The complexity of the album is in what is sampled rather than the album's actual sound. Recycling Records actually deconstructs songs such as a pop-rock ballad and from those deconstructed files, he creates the ambient sounds that you hear on the record. The mood of the album is also extremely unique to any electronic album I've ever given my attention to. Though other artists such as Bonobo or Amon Tobin have a lot of slow-paced songs of their own, especially the former of the two, neither of them pay as much attention to the ambient noise like Recycling Records does. If you're into electronic music, *"The Best of Polish Smooth Jazz ...Ever!"* is definitely a must-have in your music collection. It would even be interesting for a pop-rock fan to get their hands on to try and figure out what songs have been deconstructed. Two samples from this release are now available on the a/O Radio page and on the a/O MySpace page. The info page for the release only has one sample at this time. http://www.and-oar.org/and_oar_radio.html http://www.myspace.com/andoar >From what sound like theatrical Fellini Satyricon-like extravaganzas (although predating Satyricon by two years), haunting phantasmic dronescapes, to near pastoral epiphanies of childhood and the imagination of innocence, the dynamic range and mood of the work presented here is impressive, and it's well apparent that he's drawn upon his experience with directing for film, television and theatre; however Jovanovic's mastery of composition, weaving field recordings, concrete sounds, voices and instruments is still nothing short of astonishing. When presented with this work for a possible joint release by Seth Nehil of FO A RM Publications, it was hard to fathom how it had gone unreleased over the past 30 years. With the exception of one track ("Prophecy Of The Village Kremma" which was used in the film "The Thin Red Line"), the only way that people could hear this work were if they had just happened to catch a rare radio broadcast in Serbia (former Yugoslavia), France or Italy, for which the works were created (hence the title), or if they attended a festival where the music may have been played. And so it is my hope to open people's minds and expose Arsa Jovanovic's work to a much larger audience of which it truly deserves. Copies of his first solo release are still available in the and/OAR Diffusion shop, so if you are not yet acquainted with Arsa's work, now would be a great time to immerse yourself in two collections of his work while copies are still available, and at and/OAR prices. The tiniest crackles inside the ice of frozen lakes produce mechanical vibrations. Under specific atmospheric conditions, these impulses propagate in the ice, whose tension makes it similar to the skin of a drum. The acoustic result is an unbelievable blend of drumming sounds and etheral resonances. This CD retraces the whole phenomena : in 55 minutes, one can discover the different steps of what happened at Lac de Pierre Perc?e (a lake close to Marc's village) on the 16th of January 2006. It began with the frost falling on the vegetation accompanied by birds in the distance. The first brief percussive sounds announced the ice beginning its work under the first sunrays. A little bit later, the ice started to crackle : sounds became longer and more intense. At the end of the session, ice was breaking everywhere, the lake was singing. The phenomenon vanished with the appearance of a slight breeze. This soundwork gathers some of the most beautiful moments of hours and hours of Marc's recordings into a whole piece, but there was no processing or overdub in the production of this publication : the aim is to propose to the listener an experience of what he would expect in the front of the lake (with the exception of the temperature). Marc's recording technique is based on ORTF stereo configuration using condenser microphones and high-end preamplifiers. ?Chants Of Frozen Lakes? can easily be classified in the domains of Naturalism, since it is based on straight observation of natural events, and in the field of Sound Art as it proposes a very intense listening experience. Therefore, this CD should delight listeners of nature sound recording, experimental music as well as electronica. Audio CD published by Kalerne.net and Atelier Hui-Kan. Using conventional instruments, sound generating devices and random objects, IOS hews sonic sculptures to deliberately provoke, mesmerize, and affront. Illusion Of Safety has been the ongoing project of Dan Burke since 1983, working with numerous individuals in various combinations of one to ten members. Their work has been continually evolving, never settling into an easy niche. Each collaborator has brought their own unique perspective to the project. Since 1991 IOS have released 20 CDs on various labels such as: Die Stadt, Silent, OddSize, Staalplaat, Soleilmoon, Manifold, Tesco, Ossosnossos, and Complacency. At times their work has been called ambient, post-industrial, electro-acoustic, electronica, noise, sound collage, improvisation, and power electronics. Unable to contain their work within one genre, each release, live performance, and sometimes individual piece can shift abruptly from one musical atmosphere to another. Dan Burke is currently working with electronic synthesis, computer composition, and manipulation of historical musical references and highly amplified handled objects. Burke uses semi-recognizable preexisting structural elements and rearrangements of the ?language of error? to convey external stimuli and personal internal context. The results are destroyed music, broken sound, disturbed ambience and the quest for the sublime. DAN BURKE'S ARTIST STATEMENT: The work represents not only my internal world but the world as I perceive it. I work toward truth and often use brutal honesty in mirroring my own state of mind and what I experience of society and civilization. The work represents my interest in the dualities, contradictions, and ironies of the world, the human condition, and myself. I explore my fascination with the necessities of balance and the nature of dichotomy: chaos vs. tranquility, sacred vs. profane, subtleties vs. obviousness, and the ugly vs. an all pervasive beauty. My hope is that other people can relate to the work on an emotional and intuitve level, while appreciating my aesthetic interest in exploring the inneffible. I attempt to illiustrate and illuminate psychological processes and personal/interpersonal relationships. I strive to activate to facilitate a direct access of emotion, the psyche, and the infinite. transcendence HISTORICAL EXTRACTS Burke has been experimenting with sound since 1981 being inspired by seeing the final two performances of Throbbing Gristle. He began working with Mitch Enderle soon after The original formation of IOS began in 1983 when Burke began working with the avant-rock group Dot Dot Dot (Thymme Jones, Chris Block, Jef Bek, Rross Feller). This incarnation was based on free form improvisation. The first live performance of IOS was June 17, 1983. In 1985 Burke also began to work with Mark Klein and Mark Sorensen. In 1986 Burke and Jones founded their Complacency label in order to release the work of IOS and Cheer-Accident (Jones' rock group, and solo music project). The same year, "Its A Dead Dog", the first of 12 IOS cassettes was released on Complacency. In 1988, in association with RRRecords, IOS released their first vinyl LP "More Violence and Geography" on Complacency. In mid 1988 Jim O'Rourke began working with IOS. After the late 1980s, live performers have fluctuated show to show, while tours have been primarily Burke solo or paired with one other member. The recordings have always varied from solo work to full group participation. In October of 1992 Burke and O'Rourke recorded "Probe" for release by Staaplaat, as well as completing the first European IOS tour. During 1993 Burke & Jones began rehearsing for and embarked on the first U.S. east coast tour by documented by the Complacency release ?From Nothing To Less?. During 1995-96 performances were given in Chicago with new collaborators including Kevin Drumm, Ben Vida, Darren Gray, and Jeb Bishop, many of these characterized by subtle improvisation and quiet passages. On October 8 1997, Burke returned to the bay area for a performance/lecture at Mills College in Oakland, followed by four performances with Thomas Dimuzio, which were later edited and released on the Sonoris label in France as "Hz". Since 2001 there have been several new tours of Europe, and a number of new releases including limited edition 7" records featuring new IOS compositions, the re-issue of "More Violence And Geography" as a CD and the beautifully packaged "In Opposition to Our Acceleration" all on the Die Stadt label. The 20th IOS CD entitled "Time Remaining" (OssosNossos, UK) was released to coincide with the 20th anniversary performance on May 24th 2003, presented by the Lampo organization in Chicago. The newest recorded works since 2003 are "In Session", a CD to be released by the label Waystyx of Moscow in January 2008 and a 10" vinyl co-release between C.I.P. and Complacency titled "Sedation & Quell" (due for release in December 2007). Dan Burke & Thomas Dimuzio's second release "Upcoming Events" is scheduled to be released February 2008 on the No Fun label of Brooklyn N.Y.C. Dan is also currently working on an IOS/Cheer-accident collaboration, an improvisational trio with Bill Horist & Dave Abramson of Seattle, and new video works (one example of which can be seen on www.myspace.com/illusionsofsafety) and European & U.S. tours for the 25th anniversary of IOS during 2008. www.illusionofsafety.com. We have a new release out now on Nexsound! NOLE PLASTIQUE - ESCAPERHEADCD NEXSOUND PQPNSP03 After having a succesful net-release by Russian band Nole Plastique "Sourire En Souriant [ns48]" and a great performance on Detali Zvuku festival in Kyiv / 2007, Nexsound is very happy to release their first full lenght CD called "Escaperhead". Nole Plastique was initially the project of Roman Kutnov, who lives in Kazan (Russia) and now it's Aleksei Belousov who joined the project in 2007. During the last few years since 2004, Nole Plastique has produced several releases that one could call "romantic noise". Nevertheless at the moment Nole Plastique is strongly attracted by songs and rather acoustic sound. Their music revealed softness of musical forms in an endless sound flow along the lines of the contemporary forms of psychedelic folk music. Nole Plastique write about ESCAPERHEAD:"We are very proud to entroduce you our first full-lenght cd released on wonderful ukranian Nexsound. The album is called Escaperhead. So, be careful not to mix up its name with famous David Lynch's movie, haha. In fact, they may have something in commonconcerning the madness and other stuff...:)It took us over a year to write, record and produce everything, rearranging, rewriting and reproducing the whole thing for several times... It was a hard work but the result is surprisingly easy, light and bright.Escaperhead is a collection of strange songs and tunes with the flavor of 60-ies psychedelia, acid trips, lo-fi electronics, experimental sound design,improv-rock and other "sounds of the outer space" stuff in it. Too much may be, but that's the way we see the world sometimes, haha. The main idea of the album was to write some songs instead of experimental instrumentals more common for previous Nole Plastique releases. Unusual songs with our usual approach, you know...:)The second thing was to make a unique sound atmosphere. The sound of old psychedelic-rock records. Unmastered, hissy, detuned and very raw, with a bit of lo-fi in it. Yeah! :) " http://www.nexsound.org/nsp03.html Listen-n-chant! http://www.nexsound.org _________________________________________________________________ Explore the seven wonders of the world http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=7+wonders+world&mkt=en-US&form=QBRE -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
