(versi?n en espa?ol m?s abajo...) ?Pueblo Nuevo? proudly presents ?Demasiado Personal? EP, by Phillippe. In this first release for our label, Phillippe delivers 5 minimal, melodic tracks, using sound process and repetition as his main material for composition. Synchopated rhythms with a flair for the dancefloor. Undoubtedly, we except new surprises and many more music by Phillippe. Pueblo Nuevo adds a new member to the catalog and acknowledges everyone involved in this release. Download ?Demasiado Personal? ("Too Personal") at: www.pueblonuevo.cl or directly: http://www.pueblonuevo.cl/pn_site/index_pn005.htm Best wishes, Mika Martini, Djef & Pueblo Nuevo Crew. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + BIO > Phillippe "Phillippe" is Felipe P?rez. In his music, he creatively explores sophisticated minimal house tunes, emphasizing digital percussion sets that become the center of interesting, outlined or more evident melodies. In sum, a very intimate and personal work. Through subtle, progressive or sudden changes, phillipe?s music mixes minimal, house, funky, and techno styles in a fresh, personal, and provocative way, generating new frames for chilean electronic music. His work has been included in local compilation works (Neruda Electr?nico, Love Parade Chile, Ballantine? Secuencias), and in Cantar de los Cantares an electronic-poetry mixed work by Bolivian artist Miguel Angel. Phillippe has taken part in live performances, radio shows, and electronic music festivals here in Chile, his music being characterized as somewhat complex, including innovation and personal experience as sources of his work. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + [M!M] [CHILE] [www.pueblonuevo.cl] __________________________________________________ Correo Yahoo! Purpur CD sirr0025 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | Erikm | sixp?riodes | sirr0024 CD Sixp?riodes brings us most recent solo sound explorations from the french composer and virtuoso turntablist eRikm who has been collaborating with the likes of Fennesz, Otomo Yoshihide, Jim O'rourke or musique concr?te composer Luc Ferrari. Each creation here departs from a scenic set-up and is accomplished using diverse approaches and techniques that demonstrate the skillfull art of eRikm in combining different material - digital and acoustic sounds, field recordings and vinyl manipulations - in a unique way, delicate and textural. His primary aim is no longer simply to quote his system of references but to create for himself a bank of singular material to compose without referring to other works, thus approaching a subtle abstraction and a sense of pause within contemporary sonic agitation.' eRkm started as a solo artist in 1992 taking off from his interest in visual arts and rock music to become renowned for his turntabling virtuosity and his use of electronic instruments and tools in performance contexts. His music is experimental music: not in the usual sense of abstract avant-garde research, but as a sensitive practice always taking its lead from the musical ? the instrumental ? act, and is open to all surprises along the way. Purpur | sirr0025 CD I.K.K. is the new project of Ralf Wehowsky (RLW), the influential German electronic music composer who started his recording career in 1980. The I.K.K.-project started in 1794, when Christoph Schmid wrote the lyrics for the Christmas song "Ihr Kinderlein Kommet". More than 200 years later RLW recorded his 5 year old daughter singing her favourite Xmas tunes.... RLW, following his inclination for collaborations, invited other artists to work with this material. Beautiful-crafted and rendered compositions by Dan Warburton, Andrew Deutsch, Chris Halliwell, Strotter Inst., Stephen Vitiello, Frisch/Rainey/Wehowsky, and others, are the product of this process. (1981 renamed P16.D4) and the label Wahrnehmungen (1982 renamed Selektion) in 1980. P16.D4 was one of the most influential groups in experimental Industrial Music. They developed concepts of material exchange long before the term ?remix? was even coined. For their live appearances they were equally at home in Punk and No Wave festivals and at the holy grails of academic avantgarde like the Internationale Ferienkurse f?r Neue Musik, Darmstadt. Since the early 1990s Wehowsky works under his own name (rlw). His quiet, highly complex style of composition ? based on artifacts of instrumental and electronic sound ? is influential for numerous artists in the fields of electronic and improvised music. Some reflections on his work can be found on TULPAS, a 5CD-box-set, featuring more than 50 artists performing their versions of his pieces (Jim O?Rourke, Brume, Achim Wollscheid, Toshiya Tsunoda, John Duncan, Antanas Jasenka, Ryoji Ikeda, John Watermann and others). His recent work embraces musique concr?te improvis?e (with Bruce Russell, and Johannes Frisch, among others) as well as projects based on extended material exchange (I.K.K.). --- _ sirr at sirr-ecords.com _ http://www.sirr-ecords.com --- should you not be interested in receiving this mail, please reply and we'll remove you. We can find melodic ambient which is rather closer to the raw material, microlounge sounds, and last but not least, crazy, funny, and fresh idm-electro. TAYLOR DEUPREE "STIL." (REISSUE) (12K2002) due to continued demand for Taylor Deupree's "Stil" cd (2002, 12k), we will be reissuing a limited, hand-numbered edition of 500 on the 12k limited series. (packaging similar to the Deupree/Willits "Live in Japan, 2004" that came out last year). While "Stil." has been available on the iTunes music store and other MP3 shops there has been a lot of requests for it to be made available on cd again. Taylor has remastered the work and it should be available in our online shop some time in March. 3. TAYLOR DEUPREE "NORTHERN" (12K1037) the next release on 12k, slated for april, is Taylor Deupree's first solo full-length cd on 12k since 2002's "Stil." Northern is a very organic and gentle album inspired by his move to the country in upstate New York. The album was written during the 20th anniversary of Taylor's first experiments in electronic music (after the purchase of his first synthesizer in 1985) and is dedicated to Bryan Charles Strniste with whom he created a huge catalog of music from 1985-1990. a very personal album, "Northern" takes Taylor's ideas of stillness into new territories. this time not in a looping/repetitive sense but in a form inspired by the stillness and quietude of nature. 4. SKOLTZ_KOLGEN "POST_PIANO 07.05" this spring will also see the 3rd release on the 12k Limited Series from Canadian duo Skoltz_Kolgen. during the open call for remixes for Taylor Deupree and Kenneth Kirschner's Post_Piano Open Remix Project we received an entire cd of beautiful and spontaneous remixes from Dominique and Herman (Skoltz_Kolgen). it was very difficult to choose only one to appear on the ORP MP3 release so we decided to release all of them as a cd. In keeping with the concept of the project, all the sounds on the cd were sourced from Kirschner's original piano sketch for Post_Piano 2 (12k1032). Skoltz_Kolgen have created a remarkably beautiful work that turns the source-material restriction into an extremely creative drive. This cd is not to be missed. 5. TAYLOR DEUPREE INTERVIEW ON BLUERMUTT there is a recent interview with Taylor Deupree at: http://www.blogyourmind.info/index.php/2006/02/01/ bym_intervista_taylor_deupree we're sorry, but the interview is only in Italian 6. SEBASTIEN ROUX "SONGS" (12k1036) just a reminder that the latest cd on 12k, S?bastien Roux's "Songs" is available now. "Songs" was created with a wide range of acoustic instruments (for which each track is named) and is an expertly crafted blend of electronics and live instrumentation from one of the most talented artists in Paris. (his work at IRCAM is undoubtedly proof of that.) 7. ASMUS TIETCHENS "Z-MENGE" (LINE025) Asmus Tietchens continues his Menge series on Line with this latest, and probably most stunning, contribution. "Z-menge" (sorry, we cannot find the proper font-character in email to accurately type the title) is characteristically stark, serene, pure and engaging as only Mr. Tietchens can create.? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - thank you for listening. As well as a CD of curated work (also available for free download), the project's online presence is intended to become a focal point for artists working with open source software, and releasing their work through CC licenses. Please visit the website for details of how to contribute tracks. The aim of the project was not to portray any kind of 'open source' sound, but to offer an array of some of the interesting work people are creating with what is available. The result is an incredibly diverse compilation of internationally renowned artists, encompassing electronica, soundscapes, hiphop and electro-acoustic amongst other styles. Contributions for the CD include work by Nullpointer, Ava, Edge Effect, Jake Harries, Collective Motion, Panayiotis Kokoras, DJ Auto, Chaos Butterfly, Slub, Minimal Turntablist Crew and Elektronengehirn. Even the artwork was produced using open source techniques by Matt Gray (Ava), and the album was mastered at Mirror Image Studios in Minneapolis, again, using the Linux operating system and libre software. The project is run by the registered charity Access Space, a free media lab based in Sheffield, promoting open source software and using recycled hardware. HOPEN is an electro-acoustic project by childe grangier from geneva, turned towards experimentation using sampling, noises, voices, loops... through different foggy and sensitive variations. beware, the variety of the sound sources, their subtle, paradoxical and sometimes confusing combinations result in a dramatic and staggering process, movie, collage, drama or experience happenig in your head before you even notice it. 2006: some nice new releases of improvised music (larkian, d'incise, gavin prior) are already planned for this spring. best, marc check out hopen's website for infos and reviews: http://www.irrigationworks.net/ optical sound: http://www.optical-sound.com/ - - - - - - - - - - - - record download at: http://adozen.org whole release (256kbps/.zip): http://adozen.org/releases/adz005/adz005_256.zip whole release (128kbps/.zip): http://adozen.org/releases/adz005/adz005_128.zip complete hopen bio (.pdf): http://adozen.org/releases/adz005/adz005_hopen.pdf - - - - - - - - - - - - From mikehansen at sympatico.ca Fri Feb 17 11:48:08 2006 From: mikehansen at sympatico.ca (Mike Hansen) Date: Fri, 17 Feb 2006 11:48:08 -0500 Subject: [Microsound-announce] Whynot Jazz playlist for February 15, 2005 Message-ID: > Dear Artist and Label > > My maternity leave is now over. Out of a self coded max-msp software, a microphone and a small selection of external sound sources small sensitive universes stream together. Stephane Leonard is actively involved in the contemporary art and music scene in Berlin and Bremen, performing with improv groups JuliJuni, Leo Mars Ensemble and plastic doll. He also collaborates with various bands, video artists, filmmakers and solo performers (dis.playce, Seidenmatt, Marcel T?rkowsky, Claudio Pfeifer). Moreover he is a member of the naiv super artist collective that publishes and promotes modern composers, adventurous musicians and the naivsuperFilm collective. Stephane's EP can be downloaded from the Luv site, here: http://www.luvsound.org We've still got some excellent older releases from HelloSpiral, Maximillian Marcoll + Dis.Playce, Bryan Teoh, AllThatFall, ICELU, etc, online too! This March sees the STFU collective roll in to Leeds to put on an event at The Common Place, a fantastic social centre in the heart of the city. Planned events include workshops on binaural sampling, films and documentaries and over twenty live performances from artists from all over the world. With current electronic music being so diverse, the programme is a reflection of this; drone artists such as Nanospherecomplex and critically acclaimed minimal techno from DNCN perform alongside precision beat mungers such as Batfinks and Skeski. The event will cover established acts from labels such as Rock Action - to people who may be playing their first gig. Highlights will include performances by Leeds own electronica boy wonder Random Number, an exploration of live sampling by Model Fighter and rising underground talents Scrubber Fox, Paperball and Millicent. STFU is a non-profit European wide electronic arts collective. Initially meeting on the internet through forums such as www.em411.com, the collective has gained members and momentum in the "real" world. With no hierarchy, collective members are free to put on an event in their local town and call upon a rich pool of talented producers, musicians and visual artists to play at the event. STFU has already put on successful festivals in Manchester and Glasgow in 2005. Ernesto Rodrigues has, of all players in the field of non-idiomatic improv, been the most manifest on the internet, with what is now already his third net-label release (also having his music out on ctrl-alt-canc and Stasisfield). Within this present constellation (together with Libanese avantists Christine & Sharif Sehnaoui) a musical universe is conjured which, lacking any figurative tendencies, can be characterised as a very hylic affair - dealing as it does with the 'lowest' portion of musical matter, letting for no instance of sublimation. The grittiness, the very elemental quality of the sonorities are something of a very coarse-definition blow-up of the respective instrument's material properties (being violin, guitar & saxophone), a white-noise produced by solely analogue mechanics. Under the stress & strain of several extended techniques the acoustic possibilities that these instruments intrinsically possess are elicited from the marrow of their material structure, which is not a pretty picture. It is, in fact, not a picture at all, but rather an instance of the deconstruction of Maya. http://www.con-v.org __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yesterday, I got an email from the person who designed audio for the promo for the episode of Survivorman that is airing on the Discovery Science channel this Saturday night saying that he used some of the my above fx in creating the promo, so that was exciting to hear (especially considering that I am a big fan of that TV show--one of the few bits of TV I watch, actually). A production contest of sorts has been set up by one of the members on the mnml.nl forum using the above samples I made; here's the thread if you'd like to read more and/or join in; would be great to get some microsounders involved in this contest; at present there is an uptempo rhythmic piece submitted and also a beautiful minimal dark ambient piece; again, more info about it all here: http://www.mnml.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6802 Happy music-makin'/sound-designin'. This release summarises what was initially a 6 hour performance / installation / radio broadcast that occurred at the TNT cultural centre in Bordeaux, France. The TNT centre is situated inside a former shoe manufacturing building. With several hundred meters of cables, the exterior and interior of the building were recorded using several different condenser and contact microphones, modified and mixed in real time on a 32 channel mixing desk. Simultaneously, the live mix was played into the concert hall / space using 8 channels for 8 loudspeakers. While the improvisers were on the upper level, the audience was listening and walking around on the lower level. The final mix for the CD was edited by Eric La Casa. http://www.and-oar.org/pop_and_all1.html VARIOUS ARTISTS: Overheard And Rendered (1) What? The first of a new series of limited edition sound work collections that illustrate the various utilization of field / environmental recordings. This is intended to be an ongoing curatorial invitation-only project that might expand into becoming more than just a disc release in the future. Maybe a multi-media disc-zine? Who knows where it may lead? Why? Partially because the and/OAR schedule is usually booked up well in advance and there is only so much time in a year to release new work, and since there are so many interesting and talented sound artists in the world flying within range of the a/O radar, that one solution was to create a vehicle which would enable the presentation of many different artists' work at one time, and yet still be able to present pieces of longer duration than compilations normally do. This would also help alleviate the time it would take to issue countless 3" releases as well. And while the main focus of the series is to help get lesser known artists work heard, occasionally a track by a more known artist might appear as well. Who? This time the works featured are by American composer Maggi Payne, American sound installation artist / phonographer Perri Lynch, and French sound artists Pali Meursault, Christophe Havard, and Emmanuel Mieville. http://www.and-oar.org/pop_and_over1.html Thanks for your time, Dale Dale Lloyd: http://www.and-oar.org/dalelloyd.html and/OAR: http://www.and-oar.org/ NEW: VARIOUS ARTISTS: Overheard And Rendered (1) NEW: AFFLUX: Bordeaux TNT -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
