framework - phonography/field recording; contextual and decontextualized sound activity
presented by patrick mcginley

hello! an eventful summer has finally made way for a return to london, and this is a pre-show note to remind you all that i exist, and inform you that framework will return with new live broadcasts starting tomorrow (one week later than previously announced, i know - this was due to studio refurbishments which took place last week). so - i have piles and piles of material to get through, mass quantities of great stuff, lots of leftovers from before the summer, and much, much more that has arrived here in london since, or that i picked up on my travels. if you have sent material, or if i met you in the states or in estonia, fret not, your recordings will be heard, but bear with me - it will be several shows before i can get through everything i have waiting to be played! there's nothing like being spoilt for choice...

one thing i don't have giant piles of is framework introduction recordings - come on people, get out there and do your duty! there are guidelines for recording your introduction below, or on the framework website.

lastly i'll give a plug for one upcoming event: the 3rd annual london placard headphone festival, which i co-curate, takes place this saturday at state51, featuring headphone specific sets by nearly 40 artists over 16 hours! performing, among others, will be framework regulars dallas simpson and boca raton, resonancefm's own knut aufermann and sarah washington, along with z'ev, leafcutter john, a short set from my own project, murmer, and many, many more. it's free, so come down and say hello (i'll be the fellow with the glasses and the ridiculous moustache), and make sure you bring your own headphones! more details below, after the introduction guidelines.

hope you can tune in tomorrow - it will be nice to be back in the studio!

again, we are always looking for material for the show, whether raw field recordings, field recording based composition or introduction submissions. send material, released or not, on any format, to the address below. we are also hoping to have live performances as often as possible, so if you are in or passing through london please get in touch!

About the placard headphones festival

Placard is a 3 month, non-stop streaming headphone concert festival. In 2005, Placard goes on for 97 days non stop, in different cities. Organisers create perfomance spaces that broadcat concerts to listening rooms around the world, where the music is heard on headphones only.

Placard is all about focused listening. And it is about sending and receiving, creating a self-organising, distributed network of consumer/producers ... this year, the network has had concerts from Helsinki, Stralsund, Benecassim, Bologna, Transmediale Festival in Berlin and Mutek Festival in Montreal.
