framework - phonography/field recording; contextual and decontextualized sound activity
presented by patrick mcginley

our first session in our new 8-9pm timeslot found us drifting back into slow-build mode, perhaps helped along by an early audition of heribert freidl's new bradycard release, named for a medical term which means 'to have a very slow heart rhythm.' another impeccable untreated recording (this time very close up with a rabbit) by jeph jerman led us deeper down, into the depths of a live performance at riga's rixc by arturas bumsteinas, during which we encountered a collection of iranian soundscapes recorded by fred inklaar. recovery began by rejoining one of our contacts from this summer's travels; mpld graced us with his prepared slide projector performances while we were in new york in july, and the source material for a live performance we saw back here in the uk by bill thompson brought our evening to close.

now, i think i have successfully battered our broadcast time-change into skulls all around, however i did blunder slightly by implying (well, stating...) that our wednesday morning repeat would remain unchanged. this, in fact, was completely untrue. framework will continue to be repeated weekly, and these repeats will remain on wednesday morning, however, from this week we take up our new repeat time on 10-11am. this should make things slightly easier for some of you in certain parts of the world, and slightly more difficult for those of you in the other direction. so set those alarms!

again, we are always looking for material for the show, whether raw field recordings, field recording based composition or introduction submissions. send material, released or not, on any format, to the address below. we are also hoping to have live performances as often as possible, so if you are in or passing through london please get in touch!
