framework - phonography/field recording; contextual and decontextualized sound activity
presented by patrick mcginley

an edition recorded on the road this week - we compiled and constructed this program while visiting les tribardieres in st george les landes, about 50 km outside limoges in the limousin region of france (we were lucky enough to meet local phonographer cedric peyronnet - aka toy.bizarre - during our stay). so the program was made in the garden and in front of the fire at a large old farmhouse, and the commentary recorded in the woods between les tribardieres and les bussiers. this is a format we hope to be making more use of in the coming months, given that we plan to spend much of the next year away from home. and as nice as it is to be in the studio sending the show out live, given the theme of our fair program, it does rather make sense for us to record our commentary out in the field. so: not all at once, and not right away, but you should be hearing more of us outside the studio soon...

this program featured some melancholic long droning works from daisuke suzuki, brendan walls and darren tate, along with some sharper more untreated composition from felicily ford (check out her website!) and simon vincent. we also heard another track from recent italian discovery punck, some environmental sounds from percussionist and instrument builder eric leonardson, and some more of keith de mendonca's kefalonia recordings.

again, we are always looking for material for the show, whether raw field recordings, field recording based composition or introduction submissions. send material, released or not, on any format, to the address below. we are also hoping to have live performances as often as possible, so if you are in or passing through london please get in touch!
