framework - phonography/field recording; contextual and decontextualized sound activity
presented by patrick mcginley

after being completely blown away by rsundin's recent antifrost release, hagring (which we listened to back in february), we went back to some older efforts, the first two parts of his series on wake-dreaming, which were released respectively on bake and ground fault. these, needless to say, are great as well. we heard some live material from mnortham and hitoshi kojo's collaborative project, kodama, recorded on the site of an installation they created for the swiss arts center arsenic, in lausanne (a recording which also features a cameo appearance from some other framework favorites, kuwayama-kijima). this led to more pleasant surprises from the realm of collaboration when we sampled the excellent new effort from the american helen scarsdale agency by fellow northerners b j nilsen (sweden) and stilluppsteypa (iceland). also sampled were the more delicate soundscapes created by archive, in an mp3 only release entitled music in black and white, and an unreleased work by cheapmachines.

again, we are always looking for material for the show, whether raw field recordings, field recording based composition or introduction submissions. send material, released or not, on any format, to the address below. we are also hoping to have live performances as often as possible, so if you are in or passing through london please get in touch!
