Think of a festival in reverse ... London rounds up the global placard headphones season on 10 September with the 3rd London Headphone Festival.

Last year over 500 people packed into our warehouse off Brick Lane to hear headphone-only performances from the likes of Leafcutter John, Janek Schaeffer, Sanso-Xtro, Recon, Hot Chip, David Toop and Max Eastley. In 2005 we return with another 14 hours of headphonics, this time with a more electronic, underground direction. Expect sets from Ardisson, Foneq, Walker, Matt Grey, Ubergeek, Pline, Julian Weaver, U-Sun + John Chantler, Poptatari, Gavin Starks, Pete Marsh, Butterfly Cut, Slub, Boca Raton, Cheapmachines, Knut Auferman + Sarah Washington, Bad Anarok 404 and old favourites Cormac Heron, Leafcutter John, Sanso-Xtro and Dallas Simpson. Plus more tbc.

For once, it's a chance for some focused listening.

There's also food, drink, merchandise and other bits and pieces. Free to get in, but please bring your own headphones.

Brought to you by slab, [no.signal], idoia, murmer and the slow sound system.

Praise for last year's festival:

'one of the highlights of a long hot summer' the wire
'ludicrously straightfaced' the guardian
'freebie of the week' time out

About the placard headphones festival

Placard is a 3 month, non-stop streaming headphone concert festival. In 2005, Placard goes on for 97 days non stop, in different cities. Organisers create perfomance spaces that broadcat concerts to listening rooms around the world, where the music is heard on headphones only.

Placard is all about focused listening. And it is about sending and receiving, creating a self-organising, distributed network of consumer/producers ... this year, the network has had concerts from Helsinki, Stralsund, Benecassim, Bologna, Transmediale Festival in Berlin and Mutek Festival in Montreal.
